The Game

The Bank Job is a trackable game starting in 1st February, for any EMcache member to enter. If you are not already a member, see how you can enter  (here)

The aim is for your trackable item to travel to The Bank and ‘steal’ a gold coin. Then return to the same cache it started from. The winner will be the first to do this.

This year, the target is the treasury of the 7th UK Mega Event in Scotland. They have heard of The Bank Job, so have tried to outwit us by splitting the funds between two banks on either side of Scotland. Your robber can win by ‘robbing’ either of the banks. The Bank locations will be announced soon.
(The exact location of each bank can only be found attached to a robber.)

There will also be Policemen sent out to catch your robbers. If your robber is ever in the same cache as a Policeman then it is out of the game. There are three local Bobbys: The Derby Bobby, Chief Inspector Taff and Pompey Plod. These only have jurisdiction in their local area (as assigned by geocaching.com). There will then be additional units deployed, with national jurisdiction, to keep the ration at no less that 1 police officer to 4 robbers.

To Enter
(if you entered The Bank Job 2013 click here)

You must send out a ‘robber’ with a trackable attached. This will ideally be a ‘person’ but can be anything attached to a trackable. There also needs to be a chain or other undo-able attachment that the coin can be added to later.
(click here to buy a specially made Bank Job trackable tag.)
(click here to buy a UK Mega trackable tag.)

You will need to contact me (below) with your details, and then I will email you a label, just before he game starts, to print and attach to your robber. This will have the co-ordinates of both Banks.

You will start by placing your robber in your Home Cache, which must be in the East Midlands. This can be an existing cache or a new one you place for the purpose. Your robber will need to return here with the gold coin. When it arrives in either Bank, the CO will remove the label, attach a gold coin, and attach a new label with instructions to return it to your Home Cache.

Entries can be made at any time before the end of the game by EMcache members.  If you live outside the East Midlands area then you will need to send me your tb and I will attach the label and place it in your nominated home cache. More info (here)

Send an email to me: tbbankjob@gmail.com with the following info:
Your GC username:
Your trackable name:                                                                    TB code:
Your ‘home cache’:                                                                        GC code:
Your email address:
Please also include a photo of your robber.

Additional Rules

You, your family or your close friends, cannot move your own player or one of the policemen. If you retrieve another player then it must be moved on within a week, and must be obviously in line with the mission.

Both the policeman and the robber must remain in the same cache for the arrest to be valid. Each cacher may only make ONE arrest move with each policeman.

The Bank, and the first cache after The Bank, are safe houses. Police should not be put in these caches, but even if they are an arrest is not valid.

If a cacher who does not understand the objectives makes a ‘mistake’, like moving it in the wrong direction or only dipping it in The Bank, then that is generally just unfortunate for the player and part of the game. Sometimes, however, at my discretion, I can decide to try to counter-balance the mistake.

Please do not publish the co-ordinates of The Bank anywhere online, and do not pass it on to anyone asking for it.  The only way to find this cache is to retrieve a game piece.
Please also put on your tb page a request that others do not pass on the co-ordinates.

Although an arrested robber is out of the game it may not be possible to stop it continuing, however it will not be eligible to win the game.

Any disputes will be decided by me (chramm)- but come on, it’s just a game!

That would be great. Sorry not to have got back to you about a European version. I heard nothing from the Munich forum, so thought we could take more time to find someone. We are doing 2 Banks in UK so if that works we could try it European next year maybe?!

Love this idea , I’ve got a ‘lost’ TB I could use , when do you need to get the info by?
Also is there a fee for entry.?
    Cheers.

Great! No entry fee, it is just for fun. You can send me your info anytime; obviously before the start of the game gives you the best chance, but it doesn’t matter if people start later.

I’m in, just got to decide which one of my 10 stolen travellers to use 😦 therefore not holding out much hope!

  6. Muddy_Puddles says:

Got my robber ready and waiting, just ordered the special tag as I was going to use a normal one but changed my mind. So, is starting date still the 12th as I’ve seen elsewhere that it says the 1st Feb?

    • chramm says:

Where does it say that? At one stage we were hoping to start on Feb 1st, but the caches won’t be ready for then, so we have made it Feb 12th. I think I wrote fourteenth on a post yesterday so I will go and change that too!! Game starts Feb 12th.

  7. Muddy_Puddles says:

It says 1st Feb on Kevin’s site when you order a Bank Job tag 😉
12th is much better date. Thanks for the quick reply Chramm.

  8. Jo Rich says:

  9. Muddy_Puddles says:

Love the idea of the Bank Job. If the Minifigs get caught, they could be put in my Reading Gaol for Minifigs (http://coord.info/GC52Z8F)!
